Pentecôte

Paris Meetup group at Parc des Buttes Chaumont - it might seem a little weird to go on a picnic with, oh I don't know, 50 or more strangers. But that's exactly what we did today. And it was pretty cool actually. Met some new people, drank some French wine, ate some French cheese, spoke a few languages ... and as a bonus ... talked controversial but friendly politics with a French woman.

  • Her: Obama is a socialist who is eroding the American constitution.
  • Us: huh?

Oh and from last night ... Junior saying "mais non!" to the Burgundy Chardonnay. And a heavily LightRoomed Eiffel shot.

May 22

A few shots from wandering around on Saturday evening. The Vélib stand at Pasteur. And when you see a crowd standing around with marching band instruments it can only mean one of two things: labour union activity or football.

Brocante

Which is the French name for a flea market ... not to be confused with Les Puces, the mother of all French flea markets where the only thing ruder than the prices are the vendors [rim shot]. No, the neighborhood Brocante is actually kind of cool. So since Amos and Laura were delayed for an additional day in Paris, we hit this one in South Pigalle.

Hooray!

A lovely tapestry in a Marais storefront window. Um, I'm pretty sure it's an homage.
